I thought he was saying "let's go" as we walked across the preschool
parking lot. He said it quietly and
at least five times from our car to
the preschool door. I kept responding back with "we're going, we're going". Once we hopped onto the sidewalk he pulled his hand away and said it again but this time I heard him. What I thought was "let's go" was actually "let go". I thought
Oh my gosh, he was saying "let go" to me! He didn't want me to hold his hand. I always grab his hand when we cross a parking lot but, when you are 4 1/2 it isn't so cool especially in the preschool parking lot. I didn't know this time too had come. I knew not to kiss him or even hug him at school but, now this? With his safety at stake and his dignity on the line, I will now walk beside my big boy and try to catch myself before grabbing his hand again, especially at preschool.
