Corey has made a comeback, though he certainly wouldn't call Independent Ball a comeback. With fortitude that is unmatched. Nearly 2 1/2 years without pitching in a game. Today it happened. Corey was the starting pitcher for the Bridgeport Bluefish and did quite well. He was on a pitch count that would allow him to throw sixty pitches. This usually means he might make it through two innings (
just kidding Corey) but, he made it to the fifth inning. He struck out two, gave up two hits, allowed no runs and walked one. I am so happy for him. And so proud of him. Finally. He has worked nearly everyday at the job of "rehabbing" his arm. A job that comes without pay but does come with therapy bills. Despite the amount of time it has taken he has never wavered. Despite throwing well this winter, signing him was questionable for some teams due to his injury history and age so he moved on to "plan B". He signed with an Independent team last week. He hopes he will not be there too long. He might not if he continues to pitch as well as he did today. Yeah!
