Yesterday Cade got his first report card. When we got in the house I said, "Cade let me see your report card!" He asked, "What is that?" He has no idea and he didn't really care. I explained it to him. He was proud of himself after I read what his teacher wrote. He is doing great. We are so proud of him! Then I look at the next paper and scream. He says, "What? What is is?" I yelled, "Who has lice in your class?" He said, "What is that?" He had a scared look on his face. My head began to itch immediately and I told him what lice is. He began scratching his head with a weird look on his face. I asked, "Did someone go home early? Who has lice?" He didn't know. We gave him some strategies to avoid getting lice after I throughly checked his head. After teaching school and having a child miss 52 days of school one year because of lice, I get completely grossed at the thought of the disgusting little bugs.
Occasionally I will take toys that are not played with or toys that I am tired of seeing laying around (like kids meal toys) to preschool for the prize box. I should say I sneak them there. Sometimes they end up coming back home to my delight. Sometimes I can sneak them to the trash without getting caught. Sometimes I do get caught and I hear, "Hey, why is this in the trash?" I say "Oh, I don't know. How did that happen? Gosh, get it out of the trash fast. I'm glad you found that." So, today Cannon was choosing from the prize box when I walked in to pick him up. He ran over to show me what he chose. I said,"Cool. That looks familiar." He said, "Mama, you know why I chose this thing ( a plastic animal from a kids meal)." I said, "Why Cannon?" He said, "Because I used to have one just like this at home but it is gone now I can't find it anywhere. "
The other day I had the window down as Cade was climbing in the car after school. Landry began to yell at the top of her lungs, "Hey, do-do ball! Hey do-do ball!" Cade was slightly embarrassed to say the least. Thanks Cannon for teaching your sister such lovely, lady-like phrases. It isn't easy to discipline when you find yourself laughing. What have I become? I laugh at me child yelling "Hey do-do ball!" to my other child. Lord help me.
