The other night we went to kids night at Pizza Inn. There is always a clown there, BB the clown. Well, we were eating and BB walks up to our table and asks if they want anything made from balloons. This surprised us because this isn't the usual procedure for BB. You usually have to wait in line at his station to get a balloon or your face painted. Landry immediately asked for a pig. He quickly makes his standard animal with a pink balloon and calls it a pig. He hands it to her and she is happy. Cannon says he wants a gun. A black gun that is. BB makes the gun and Cannon is happy. He asks Cade and Cade says, "I don't want anything." BB says, "You don't?" I said, "Cade you just say no thank you." So Cade said, "No thanks. I don't want anything." So BB says, "Well then, I'll just make something for you . I'll surprise you." Cade had a look of complete panic as BB whipped out 3 balloons and began making this large contraption. I was laughing at the irony of this. You see Cade simply didn't want the big, loud clown standing at our table drawing attention to him with all those other kids around. He didn't want anything because he wanted the clown to leave our table and move on to someone else. Cade usually chooses an animal or gun when he goes up to BB's station but not tonight with BB standing at our table. So, as BB was finishing up I am trying to be chipper without laughing out loud because I could see Cade wanted to crawl under the table. We were all guessing what it could be especially after the clown had to go so far as to measure Cade's head with the first balloon. So the final product was the biggest balloon contraption in the restaurant. The perfect thing for the shy kid. A fishing pole hat with the fish attached. Perfect. Nothing draws attention to you quite like a big freakin' fishing pole on your head with the caught fish flapping around in front of you. I was not able to control my laughter when he put it in Cade's head only to be quickly removed by Cade. I thanked the clown and off he went. How ironic. Cade attempted to leave without his new headgear. Needless to say, he didn't wear it out of the restaurant but he didn't mind putting it on at home. Cade said, "I will never say I don't want anything again to that clown. Never. I will always say something I want from now on."
