"Dunk" and Doughnuts.

It was 6:00 tonight. There was a knock at the door. There stood Catie and Sarah, Mrs. Missy's daughters. They were holding a bag of Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I opened the door and didn't invite them in because to my left, right beside the front door was Cade, naked and sitting on the toilet. I went out in the cold on the front porch with the girls, thanked them and went to the car to tell Missy why I hadn't invited the girls in. I knew Cade would have been embarrased if they had seen him and I knew he would be disappointed if they left before he saw them. Mrs. Missy was his preschool teacher last year and she is a friend of mine whom I taught with for a few years. She is the sweetest. Cade adores her. He also thinks a lot of her girls, especially Catie (if you know what I mean). So, I went inside and with Cannon standing beside me I said, "Cade get dressed fast because Catie, Sarah and Mrs. Missy are here. Cannon, go tell them that Cade will be out in just a minute, he is getting dressed." I walked out to talk again to Missy and they were all laughing. Instead of telling them Cade was dressing Cannon said Cade was inside "taking a dump" though it actually sounded like this "Cade is taking a dunk". They knew what he meant. I knew Cade would be embarrassed, at least he doesn't know what Cannon said. Then Cannon throws open the front door and says, " Cade, I told them you were taking a dunk." I said, "Oh no." I fully expected Cade to punch Cannon which would be typical in this situation but, Cade either didn't hear him or didn't mind. I didn't ask. I just laughed. We all laughed. When they were leaving I said, "Tell the girls bye." Cade quietly said "Bye." Cannon yelled to Catie, who had just hugged him, "Bye pretty girl!"
