It is the funniest thing. Cade got some
Old Maid and
Go Fish cards for his birthday. The first time we played I had to teach them how to play and understand to not tell if you have the Old Maid. Cannon wanted to play which I knew was questionable. It is hard for their little hands to hold so many cards. So we started the game. All was well until Cannon picked the "Old Maid". He began the "uncomfortable laugh" with teary eyes that quickly turned into full out crying. He threw the card down and said, "I don't want that card." Cannon was scared of the card and was crying because he had it. Cade and I were crying ourselves from laughing at him. At that point Cannon was done. Now Cannon says, "I want to play
Old Maid. I'm not scared of her. It is just a card." He then starts laughing like,
ha-ha that is silly, who would be scared of such a thing. So, we pass the cards out and his anxiety begins. He is so scared of getting the card that he can't hold his cards and certainly can't pick a card. He says I think I just want to watch. Then the next day or even that same day he will say, "I want to play
Old Maid. I'm not scared. It is just a card." We say, "Are you sure Cannon?" He gives a big head nod and we try again only to end up holding him because he is scared of "dat ol' lady".
