Long Island.

Yesterday we took the ferry from Connecticut to Long Island. The boys loved it and as we got closer to Long Island Cade and I were playing the game "which house do you want" as we passed these amazing homes. Corey said "Look at this one." I said, "Oh Cade, that is my house!" as I pointed to the one Corey had just spotted. Turns out I can't have it because it is Paul McCartney's house or I should say Heather Mills' house now. Long Island is very pretty along the coast. But, after today's experience the five of us would have to say that the beaches in NY are overrated (at least the one we went to). We left at noonish for the 15 minute ride to the beach. It really must have been a great idea because half of the state was on the same two lane road as us to get there. We became a little concerned as we noticed several time men and their "partners" riding with the top down in their Miatas. The fifteen minute ride turned into an hour and fifteen minutes. The kids were okay. It was Corey I was ready to throw over the bridge. He was thrilled to say the least. Traffic gets him boiling along with a GPS not being specific enough. The kids were watching a DVD and never noticed or heard Corey's less than "chipperness". He was expecting to get there just as I was and get lunch and have plenty of time before the 3:30 bus to the field. We finally find parking and make it out to the beach along with a few thousand others. The water was freezing and there was no food in sight. That posed the biggest problem for Corey because apparently his stomach was eating itself at this point. Corey walked to find food. Thank the Lord he found something because I could not have ridden with him back to the hotel if he hadn't found food. Corey has quite an opinion on NY the he will gladly share with you. He said, "What would have been so bad about the hotel pool?" We had no idea everyone in NY was going to the same beach. We dropped Corey off at the field since it was on the way back and I said (in a very sarcastic way) "This was so much fun. The best part is the way you did it with a smile." He grinned. It is naptime here and then we are heading to the game.

I can see Corey now, fuming in the car, hiking up the beach in search of food, being overly cheerful. Too funny. We miss yall.

I will agree the beaches in NY are nothing to brag about. (and we LIVE in NY). The traffic on the island can be horrible...but not all of NY is like that. Remember the Hudson Valley loves you!!
Hope we can get to see you soon.
